- 102 passengers killed in a plane crash south of Algeria
Some 102 persons were killed in a Boeing 737 plane crash for the Algerian airlines. Naval forces said that the plane was carrying 97 passengers and unknown number of crew, adding that one person at least survived the crash and had wounds. Yesterday, the French president said addressing the Algerian parliament who had an extraordinary meeting on the occasion of his visit that a treaty will be finalized between the two countries to materialize closeness and set a new Algerian- French alliance. The French President Jacque Chirac yesterday started an official visit to Algeria for three days which is the first of its kind since Algeria's independence from the French occupation in 1962.
