Bashir arrives in Cairo today for talks with Mubarak
Sudanese President Omar Al Bashir arrived in Cairo today for talks with Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak on the goings-on of the Sudan in the wake of the recent decisions on dissolving the parliament and declaring the state of emergency for three months.
Bashir will brief President Mubarak on the outcome of his talks in Tripoli with Libyan Leader Muammar Gaddafi, and his meeting with Eritrean President Isaias Afworki on the Sudanese Eritrean ties.
President Mubarak will also brief President Bashir on the outcome of his Gulf tour which covered Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.
Bashir Tuesday stressed the importance of his talks in Tripoli with Leader Muammar Gaddafi and in Cairo with President Mubarak on the latest developments in Sudan.
Following his arrival in Tripoli on Tuesday, Bashir said the Summits in Tripoli and Cairo will take up expediting the national reconciliation process in Sudan.
Bashir said his visit to Tripoli comes at the invitation of Gaddafi, adding that such visit falls within the framework of constant consultation between the two states. On his latest decisions in Tripoli, Bashir said they represent a new stage and a very positive step to get rid of the problems of the past that saddled Sudan at home and outside and formed a two-man leadership.
"Now the situation is different as these decisions unified the leadership in the country and ended the interference of power between various institutions," he said.
The Sudanese president said that the national reconciliation and peace will be accelerated, and the freedoms, pluralism, and democracy protected, adding that the recent decisions do not touch on such rights.
On Egypt-Libya joint peace initiative on Sudan, the Sudanese President said Khartoum is speeding up the steps of this initiative. He anticipated that the plan will yield good results.
