Yemen, Iran support Syrian bid to restore the Golan
Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh said that the resumption of peace talks on the Syrian track is considered a good step, expressing Yemen's backing for Syria to restore the occupied Golan Heights.
In a statement reported on Monday by the Yemeni news agency, Saba, the Yemeni president expressed his hope of resuming talks on the Lebanese tracks and for the restoration of the usurped rights of the Palestinian people.
Meanwhile, on Monday Iran also expressed its backing for Syrian efforts to restore the occupied Golan Heights.
The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Hamid Rida Asefi, was quoted by the Iranian radio as saying, "Syria has stable and determined positions concerning the Zionist regime and Iran supports the Syrian stand for liberating the whole of the Golan as part of all occupied territories."
Aseifi continued, "The (Syrian- Israeli) talks are of a separate nature from the Middle East peace process."
