El-Bashir assures adherence to ruling National Congress

Sudanese President Omar El-Bashir asserted his adherence to the ruling National Congress party and said he will continue to head the party to clean up the corruption that entered it from rejected factional practices.

El-Bashir also denied any attempts to discharge him from the party's chairmanship because he is an elected chairman of the party's different sectors.

This came in press conference El-Bashir held yesterday in the headquarters of the ruling party, during which El-Bashir said that he appreciates Hassan Turabi's role and position in raising the Islamic movement, but that Sudan's interest is paramount.
