Al-Assad briefs Lahoud on developments concerning resumption of peace talks

Syrian President Hafez al-Assad on Wednesday evening made a telephone call to Lebanese President Emile Lahoud, during which he informed Lahoud about the latest developments concerning the peace process and resumption of talks, as well as contacts made in this regard.

The two presidents made consultations on matters relating to cooperation and coordination between the two states. Meanwhile, Lebanese Minister of Information Anwar al-Khalil said that President Lahoud briefed the Lebanese Cabinet on his telephone call with al-Assad

In a statement he made on Thursday, al-Khalil said that President Lahoud stressed that there are identical stances between the Syrian and Lebanese positions towards the issue of a just and comprehensive file.

Al-Kahlil continued that Lahoud said that dealing with the issue of peace by President Lahoud and President al-Assad proves the unity of the two tracks and that contacts between the two states will continue about every and each stand concerning the isssue of just and comprehensive peace.
