Damascus is to exempt more directors general

Originally published

The Syrian Arabic daily Tishreen said on Monday that new decisions will be released soon in Syria to quit other directors of state-run public companies and that the number of directors removed will be 26.

The Syrian daily reported that the directors of the general railway establishment, the Qassyoun construction company, the general company for irrigation, the general company for electricity works and telecommunications and the land reclamation establishment were transferred from their posts to the ministries for which they work, which are the ministries of transport, building up and construction and irrigation.

The Syrian daily attributed these transfers to the state of "recession" that hit these establishments.

However, well-informed sources in Damascus stressed that a great deal of this change is attributed to reasons linked to corruption.
