James Zogby warns against normalization before peace

Originally published

President of the Arab-American Institute James Zogby has asserted that a drive towards normalization of relations with Israel before the achievement of peace would have a dangerous impact on the Middle East peace process.

He continued that such normalization steps should be taken after the establishment of a just and comprehensive peace in the region, not before it.

In an interview with the Moroccan daily al-Alam, Zogby called on the US to adopt a firm stand concerning Israeli practices. He added that these practices make the Middle East peace process impossible, as Israel proceeds in its denial of the legitimate rights of the Palestinians and continues to expand the building of settlements.
