Investigations into former Jordanian parliament member close to Hamas
A Jordanian judicial source reported on Tuesday in Amman that former Islamic parliamentarian Abdul Mene Abu Zant, who is close to the Hamas resistance movement, was summoned for investigation in Amman after he made statements in one of his sermons which were considered to be "provocative."
The Jordanian judicial source stated that Abu Zant "has strongly criticized" in a sermon he read on Friday in one of the capital's mosques, the Jordanian authorities because of the measures they had taken against Hamas and that he kept persisting on his statements despite the fact that he was presented before the governor of Amman, Qaftan al-Majali, and a warrant of arrest was released against him as a result.
Moreover, an official at the Jordanian Ministry of the Interior said that al-Zant was released on a guarantee until today, and later the attorney general will interrogate him over his violation of the terms of "preaching and guidance," which stipulate that men of religion should abstain from making provocative political statements.
