US warplanes continue attacks against Iraq
A statement by the US European command said that US warplanes patrolling the northern Iraq "no-fly zone" today " dropped precision-guided-munitions (PGMs) on an air-defense-warning site south of the city of Mosul. This site is part of the integrated-air-defense-system (IADS) that has been regularly attacking coalition aircraft." There was no indication of whether the site was inside the so-called "no-fly zone."
The statement said the attack was in response to Iraqi anti-aircraft artillery fire from near Tall-Afar.
Meanwhile, an Iraqi military spokesman said some 11 Iraqis were wounded when US and British planes struck civilian targets in southern Iraq on Thursday.
The spokesman added that these planes flew over areas in the provinces of Al Basrah, Dhi Qar, Al Muthanna, An Najaf and Al Qadisiyah, adding that Iraqi anti-aircraft missiles were fired against these planes.
