Hamas leaders intend to return to Amman

Originally published

Tehran radio said on Monday, quoting an official source from the opposition Hamas movement in occupied Palestine, that Hamas leaders Ibrahim Ghoushe, Khaled Mishal and Mousa Abu Marzouk intend to return to Amman although an arrest warrant was released for them.

The source, which asked not to be identified, dismissed news in that two members of the movement, Muhammad Nazal and Abdul Aziz al-Omari, are hidding, as stated by the Jordanian authorities.

The source added that the two men are in their homes and are living their normal life, asserting that the news leak on the hiding of Nazal and al-Omari is intended to distort the reputation of the two men through portraying them as frightened.

The three leaders have been in Tehran for several days, and their visit to Iran was planned during the visit of Iranian President Muhammad Khatami to Syria in April.

The three leaders are waiting for the return of Iranian spiritual guide Ayatollah Ali Khamanei from an internal tour to meet with them before they leave Tehran.
