Originally published

Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid has stressed that Israel's occupation of the Syrian Golan Heights, south Lebanon and the Palestinian territories are on the forefront of works of the AL council due to be held in September.

In a statement following the consultation meeting held by the Arab states' permanent representatives in which the agenda for the AL session to be held on September 12 and 13 was drawn up, the AL chief asserted the need to come up with a united and effective Arab position in the service of Arab causes and their national interests.

The AL chief explained that there is an agreement between all Arab states regarding all issues debated on the meeting agenda, adding that the agenda includes some 46 items.

On whether there is any objection the AL member states to Iraq's presidency over this session, the AL chief said there is no "reservation or objection by any of the Arab states over Iraq's presidency over this session."
