Israeli FM to visit Jordan today

Originally published

Israeli Foreign Minister David Levy will arrive in Amman today for a short visit to Jordan. Israel Radio said that Levy will discuss developments in the Middle East peace process with Jordanian Foreign Minister Abdul Illah al-Khatib.

On Sunday Levy denied the existence of any crisis in the negotiations with the Palestinians.

Levy stated that the current crisis is fabricated. He ignored the obstacles placed by his government to obstruct the negotiations. These include refusing to set a date for redeployment in the West Bank according to the Wye River agreement and the question of releasing the political detainees.

Israel Radio indicated that Levy's statements came following his meeting on Sunday afternoon with the Norwegian foreign minister, currently visiting Israel.
