Egyptian discussions with the World Bank
Egyptian Minister of Public Works Atef Ebeid said that discussions of fields of future cooperation and Egypt's future plans in development fields, especially in light of Egypt's economic reform program, took place during his meeting yesterday with the mission of the World Bank that is currently visiting Cairo under the chairmanship of Larry Everan, following up and relations manger in the bank.
He said Egypt has a clear political goal, which is reducing the volume of external debts so that it does not increase, adding that, "We are paying part of these debts every year and when we object, the aim is not increasing debts but trying to find loans with easy conditions to use in producing currency."
He added the bank will make a call to continue expansion in financing the social fund and that it encourages companies that work on the B.O.T (build, operate, transfer) system, adding that Egypt is currently creating technical teams with the bank to prepare work programs for the Egyptian government in the future in the fields of technology and small industries.
