Tunisian opposition enters presidential elections
The Tunisian opposition Unionist Democratic Union decided to nominate Abderrahmane Tlili to enter the president elections scheduled for October, to become the third candidate, joining President Zien al-Abidin Bin Ali, the head of the ruling Constitutional Democratic Rally (RCD) -- which has controlled Tunisia since its independence -- and Mohamed Bel Haj Amor, head of the Popular Union Party (PUP), which is considered the largest opposition party in Tunisia.
Meanwhile, the decision of the Unionist Democratic Union Party (UDU) came at the conclusion of its 3rd conference this year, winning the support of an overwhelming majority of the party's members.
