OAU calls on Israel to abide by peace requirements
The 35th summit of the Organization of African Unity, which concluded in Algiers on Wednesday, called on Israel to commit itself to all resolutions and records related to the Middle East peace process on all tracks.
In a final statement, the OAU's 35th summit said the summit reiterated the support and full backing of the African leaders for the rights of the Palestinian people to self-determination.
The statement indicated that the African leaders who participated in the summit have approved the resolutions and recommendations of the organization's ministerial council related to the conflicts taking place in the African continent.
The leaders expressed concern over the conflicts taking place in Angola, Somalia and Comoros.
