Despite protest of drivers, Morocco maintains decision to outfit lorries with speed recorder
Moroccan minister of transport and merchant navy Mustapha Mansouri said on Wednesday that Morocco maintains the decision to outfit lorries with a speed recorder.
The minister told a parliamentary session that the decision is very important as it will reduce the number of road accidents. He added that the decision was made in the interest of lorry drivers themselves.
Owners and drivers of lorries are currently staging a strike to protest the decision.
Afflicted by a high rate of road accidents, Morocco has staged a nation-wide campaign for drivers and pedestrians.
