US first lady in Morocco on Thursday

Originally published

US first lady, Hillary Rodham Clinton, is expected in Morocco on Thursday for a two-day visit, the US embassy in Rabat announced.

The spouse of President Bill Clinton is expected in the Moroccan spiritual capital of Fez, where she will moderate a round table on civil society. She will also dedicate the new surgery unit of a maternity hospital in Fez. The unit has been financed by the US agency for International Development (USAID-Morocco).

On Friday, First Lady Clinton will chair the graduation ceremony of the Al-Akhawayane University of Ifrane in the medium Atlas mountain.

The University, conceived on the Anglo-Saxon educational model, will award the US first lady a honorary degree.

Mrs. Clinton, accompanied by her daughter Chelsea, paid last March a six-day visit to Morocco, during which she was received by King Hassan II. The trips to Fez and Ifrane were on the schedule of this first visit but fog had then prevented her plane from landing in the airport of Fez.
