Morocco's poultry sector, which employs 35,000 persons, posts an estimated annual turnover of $ 909 million and meets 50 % of domestic needs in white meat.

These figures were released Thursday by head of the Moroccan poultry federation on the fringes of the 2nd poultry show currently held in Casablanca.

Chief of the poultry federation called on the occasion for reducing taxes imposed on poultry professionals to encourage a better performance, drain more investments and contribute to ensuring food self-sufficiency.

The sector counts 30 industrial units producing annually 3.5 million tons of poultry feed and 40 farms breeding nearly 2.5 million chicken.
