Preparatory meeting of Moroccan-Egyptian high commission on May 21

Originally published

A preparatory meeting of the coming session of the Moroccan-Egyptian high joint commission will be held in Rabat on May 21.

The meeting will finalize the agenda of the joint commission --to be held by the end of the current month under the chairmanship of the two states' heads -- and will assess the follow-up of the accords concluded between the two countries, mainly the free trade accord signed last year.

The Egyptian delegation to the preparatory meeting will be led by minister of state for planning and international cooperation, Dafer Al-Bichri.

The Moroccan-Egyptian joint business council will equally hold meetings, in prelude to the commission's third session.

The coming session of the Moroccan-Egyptian high joint commission and Moroccan-Egyptian relations were at the focus of talks held on Monday in Cairo between President Mubarak and members of his cabinet.

The joint commission will examine topical Arab, regional and international issues as well as the achievements completed since the latest session held in May 1998. Future projects will equally be discussed.

The commission's latest session, held in Cairo under the co-chairmanship of the two heads of state, was marked by the signing of several cooperation accords including an agreement setting up a free trade area between Morocco and Egypt.
