Libyan mediation resulted in cease fire in Democratic Congo
A spokesman for the president of the Democratic Republic of the Congo has expected that President Laurent Kabila would make a statement on Monday on a report that a cease-fire was reached through Libyan mediation in the conflict arising in his country.
On Sunday, Libyan television announced that Kabila and Uganda's President Yoweri Museveini, whose country supports the rebels in the Congo, signed a cease fire agreement during a mini-summit meeting arranged by Libyan leader Col. Moammar Gaddafi.
Libyan television added that the agreement called for a cease fire, deployment of African peacekeeping forces and withdrawal of foreign troops.
