Gadaffi confers with Bashir, Afworki to end tensions between Sudan and Eriteria

Originally published

Libyan leader Colonel Moammar Gaddafi met with Sudanese President Omar El-Bashir and Eriteriean President Assyas Afworki.

The supervisors said this meeting is an important event because it is the first of its sort gathering the Sudanese and Eriterian leaders since relations between the two countries became strained several years ago leading to hostility and severing of relations at some stages.

They also said this meeting will pave the way for the possibility of normalizing Eritrean - Sudanese relations, which will have a great reflection on the situation in this region, which has witnessed great tensions either due to the war in south Sudan, rather than the row erupted between Sudanese government and the opposition, the matter which Libya seeks to contain so as to achieve national reconciliation in Sudan.

El-Bashir and Afowrki took part in the summit of Sahel-Saharan states held on last Wednesday at Syrte, including Eritrea and Central Africa there.
