Somali refugees arrive in Ethiopia

More than 20,000 Somali refugees have crossed the borders into Ethiopia from southern Somalia, during the two past months.

Xinhua (the Chinese news agency) quoted the Ethiopian daily "Heiran" as saying that the Somali refugees escape drought and the civil war which has recently been escalated in southern Somalia.

The official in charge of the committee for fighting disasters, Abu Baker Abdi, told the paper that the number of the Somali refugees in the "Somali district" of Ethiopia had increased due to the flow of refugees from southern Somalia during recent months.

He warned against the escalation in the problem of the refugees unless international humanitarian organizations intervene at the proper time.
