Libyan lawyers' union urges Scottish judges to stay impartial

Originally published

The Libyan lawyers union in Tripoli urged the Scottish jurisdiction to keep its credibility and to show impartiality and neutrality to provide for a fair trial for the Libyan citizens accused of blowing up a passenger jet.

The Libyan lawyers union made the call in a statement when the two Libyan suspects in the Lockerbie bombing arrived in Holland to be presented for trial before a Scottish court according to Scottish law in the first initiative of its sort.

In its statement, the Libyan union hailed the courage of the Libyan suspects and their agreement to be presented for trial in a third country, adding that the Libyan lawyers consider this position as confirmation and evidence of their innocence and the sacrifice of both of them for their nation and people.
