Semi-annual summit for the Gulf states

Originally published

The six Gulf Cooperation Council countries agreed on convening a semi-annual summit for leaders of the GCC states in May to be convened without a predetermined agenda to study all topics and issues that concern the GCC in different fields.

Gulf sources said today that leaving the agenda open will provide a chance to handle all the Gulf issues as one issue and that it will make the Gulf states deal as one country as it will also will exclude the external pressure not to discuss or taking decisions regarding some regional issues.

The sources added that "this development will urge the Gulf states to move as one entity toward the international community and solve all the halted conflicts in the area like the status in Iraq and the Iranian threat to the area."
