Jordan denies agreement permitting Israeli planes to fly in Jordanian airspace to Israel
Director of the Civil Aviation Authority in Jordan, Captain Jaser Zeyad has denied an agreement permitting Israeli planes which take off from Israel to cross Jordanian airspace into Eilat.
These statements were made by the captain to the Jordanian daily al-Doustour in response to information issued by the Israeli daily Haaretz in which it claimed that Jordan "Jordan has changed its policy of allowing Israeli civilian aircraft flying to and from southern Israel to use a route over Jordanian territory to relieve heavy traffic in Israeli skies."
Zeyad said, "There is no such agreement that we had given up."
He added it happened once or twice that Israeli planes asked for advance permission to cross through Jordanian airspace from Israel to Eilat, but Israel asked for an internal flight line to the east through Jordanian airspace and then to return by the end of the flight to Eilat.
He continued that the Israeli request was rejected "due to security considerations and others."
