Originally published

Amid Jordanian criticism for his recent statements on relations between Jordan and other states, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday arrived in Amman and met with the Jordanian King Abdullah.

The King stressed the need for Israel's commitment to agreements signed with the Arab sides in the peace process.

King Abdullah discussed with Netanyahu the Middle East peace process developments, bilateral relations, the question of water and the implementation of the Wye River agreement between the Israelis and the Palestinians.

Meanwhile, Israeli Foreign Minister Ariel Sharon, who was accompanying Netanyahu, met with Jordanian Prime Minister Fayez Tarawaneh and Foreign Minister Abd al-Ilah al-Khatib.

The Jordanian daily al-Rai said, that Netanyahu's comments last week is not the first time he has committed mistakes against Jordan. The paper added, "Netanyahu is confused with the approach of the Israeli elections," noting that, "He does not believe in the Middle East peace process and views it as provisional and temporary."
