Jordanian Cabinet agrees on resignation of communications company chief

Originally published

The Jordanian Cabinet agreed yesterday on the resignation of Ali Shourki, chairman of the board of directors for the Jordanian Communication Company, following a dispute between him and the minister of communications, Gamal El-Sarayera.

The Jordanian minister of information said in press statements that the government agreed on the resignation presented by Shoukra today.

El-Sarayera said nothing about the reasons for the resignation or the dispute between him and the minister of communications, but he said Shoukri's resignation will not affect the government's plans for privatizing the Jordanian governmental communications company.

In justifying his resignation, Shoukri said it came within the new minister's request to transfer 170 million to the ministry without considering the official channels for it.
