Meeting between Clinton, Arafat postponed
A well-informed US source said that the meeting scheduled to be held after two weeks between US President Bill Clinton and Palestinian President Yasser Arafat has been postponed to a time which has not been fixed yet.
A correspondent from Israeli Army Radio quoted the source as saying that the postponement of the meeting came following the failure of the two sides to reach an agreement concerning the declaration of the Palestinian state.
The correspondent added that Arafat asserted to the US administration that he will postpone his declaration of the Palestinian state and will confine himself in the meantime to a statement to be announced by the European countries expressing their support for the Palestinian state when it is established.
