Israeli occupation forces on Monday bombarded the western sector of south Lebanon. Lebanese security sources said the Israeli artillery stationed in Teir Harfa shelled the towns of Kafra, Yater, Zibqin, Jabal al-Butoum and al-Murabaa.

The bombardment was accompanied by heavy machine gun fire targeting the roads leading to these areas.

Meanwhile, Israeli warplanes flew over Sidon city and al-Tuffah district at low altitudes at noon on Monday. Earlier in the morning, the Israeli warplanes carried out fake and provocative raids over al-Nabatieyeh city and the al-Tuffah district.

In retaliation, Lebanese resistance forces attacked with rockets and artillery a joint Israeli -Israeli-allied South Lebanon Amry militia position in Masharoun.

News reports from south Lebanon said the Israeli position was directly hit.

Israel on Monday expelled a Lebanese police officer from the Israeli declared security zone in south Lebanon, according to a statement by Lebanese security officials.

Israeli forces and the SLA militia have in the past expelled from the Zone residents deemed a security threat.

The Lebanese citizen, Zeid Youssef Sriwi ( 47), was expelled from his village, Hasbaya, said the Lebanese security officials who asked not to be identified, adding that Sriwi was freed a week earlier from the Israeli-run al-Khiam prison within the security zone, where he was held for 13 months. It was not known why he was jailed.

The Lebanese officials noted that the Israeli intelligence agents dropped Sriwi 2.5 miles from a Lebanese army checkpoint on the edge of the security zone. Then, he walked and was received by the Lebanese army at the checkpoint.
