The higher follow-up Palestinian national committee has decided to drop the membership of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine from the committee due to the meeting of the front's secretary general, Nayef Hawatemah, and Israeli President Ezer Weizman during King Hussein's funeral last Monday.

In a meeting, held in Damascus on Sunday chaired by the committee's chairman, Khaled al-Fahoum and dedicated to discussing the membership of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine in the committee, the committee's members decided, following deliberations, to condemn "the political behavior carried out by Hawatemah" and condemn and denounce "this act, which would inflict damage on the cause of Palestine and obstruct the efforts exerted to rebuild the Palestinian national project.

The committee stressed that what was done by Hawatemah constitutes a violation to the Palestinian national charter, the resolutions of the Palestinian national conference and its concluded final statement.

The follow up higher national committee emerged from the Palestinian national congress recently held in Damascus. It comprises the representatives of the "10 Palestinian factions" as well as independent Palestinian national figures from Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, the occupied Palestinian territories, Europe and the US.
