Palestinians in Damascus protest cancellation of Palestinian charter
A large march started in Yarmouk Camp in Damascus on Monday in protest against the cancellation of the Palestinian National Charter in Gaza on Monday, SANA reported.
The marchers expressed support for the Palestinian National Conference which concluded deliberations in Damascus on Sunday. They chanted national slogans and voiced support for "struggle until liberation is achieved."
The Hamas movement's representative in Jordan, Muhammad Nazzal, said in a speech he delivered on this occasion, "We condemn the cancellation of the Palestinian Charter in Gaza." He asserted that Palestine is an Arab and Islamic territory, adding that nobody has the right to sell it out. "We shall continue to resist occupation, whatever hardships might be. We are not alone, the Arabs and Islamic faithful in the world are with us," Nazzal concluded.
SANA added from Lebanon that refugees at the Shatilla camp in Beirut kicked and burned effigies of US President Bill Clinton, Palestinian President Yasser Arafat and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and trampled them.
