Ocalan calls for international conference on the Kurdish question

Originally published

Leader of the Kurdistani Workers Party (PKK) Abdullah Ocalan called in a message issued today in Athens, Greece to interfere in seeking to convene an international conference to discuss the situation of Kurds in Greece.

AFP quoted the Greek magazine "Tufima," which published the message, as saying that people close to Ocalan had conveyed the message, which was described as a statement. Ocalan expressed in his message that the Kurdish question is a case which should be sorted out through an international conference the same as Kosovo in order to save the Kurds from extermination.

Ocalan called upon the Greek government to carry out its responsibilities in this respect, either in the course of the European Union or in collaboration with the US, Russia and China in order to settle the Kurdish question.

Ocalan, on the other hand, admitted that no country showed readiness to receive him. He described this attitude (minnot receiving him) is a giving up of "principles and civilization in Europe."

He stressed that his partisans will continue militant struggle alone, if they will be obliged to face the Turkish "atrocity." The Greek magazine said that Ocalan wrote his message from his new sanctuary in an unidentified place in Europe.
