Ocalan arrives in Karabakh
Kurdish reliable sources did not deny nor confirm to the London-based al-Hayat daily news on arrival of leader of the Kurdistani Workers Party (PKK) Abdullah Ocalan to Karabahk district in Azerbaijan.
The district announced its separation as an independent republic, but could not gain international recognition.
The widely-read Russian daily Komersant said that Ocalan had visited Armenia, but its leadership refused to give him political asylum, whereas the authorities in Karabakh agreed to host him.
It is well-known that this district was part of Azerbaijan and announced its separation. International conditions, however, make it difficult for Ankara to have a say on the authority in Karabakh to accept Ocalan as asylum seeker.
Karabakh, on the other hand, has strong ties with Yaravan and Moscow.
Meanwhile, the official spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Vladimir Rahmanin, said that sides concerned in his country will continue investigations into news published by the press on Ocalan's presence in Russia.
He added that the ministry has no information confirming that the Kurdish leader is inside the Russian territories.
