US for preserving Iraq's unity after toppling Saddam

Originally published

The Turkish daily Turkia reported on Monday that CIA official Allison Lipson said that it is probable to "preserve the unity of the Iraqi territories after toppling Iraqi President Saddam Hussein." The Turkish daily quoted Lipson as saying that several Kurds are looking forward to the establishment of a Kurdish state. However, the Kurdish leaders do not see that such an objective can be attainable in the short run, and for them the Kurdish state is a very long-term objective.
