Shaath calls for peaceful solution to Iraq crisis

The minister for international planning and cooperation in the Palestinian government, Nabil Shaath, has expressed his hope of reaching a peaceful settlement to the Iraq crisis.

He called for a diplomatic solution based on international resolutions, and avoiding the Iraqi people's destruction and the consequences of war.

Shaath said on Monday on the sideline of the annual World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, that, "Striking Iraq cannot be simply accepted with the objective of taking it out of the 21st century, because this will not serve any objective."
