Albright's visit to Morocco was canceled, daily reports
A Moroccan daily reported on Friday that the visit that US Secretary of State Madleine Albright was intending to pay to Morocco part of her Arab world tour, was canceled.
Al-Mounaddama quoted "well-informed sources" in Washington as saying that the visit was canceled "because of the popular position in Morocco opposing the U.S policy and the American-British strikes against Iraq."
"The American officials recommended the cancellation of Albright's visit for fear that demonstrations would be staged to protest her visit," the daily wrote.
The U.S embassy in Rabat had previously denied information published by Al-Mounaddama on Albright' visit to Morocco.
