The London-Based al-Hayat daily quoted "well-informed" diplomatic sources in Asmara that Eritrea's President Assyas Afworki will hold a foreign tour next week. The source added that the tour will include Qatar where he will discuss with its officials mediation carried out by Doha between Sudan and Eritrea.

Meanwhile, a US delegate, who is also a former national security advisor, Antoine Leak, arrived in Asmara from Addis Ababa in a fourth visit of its sort to the region in an attempt to end the Ethiopian - Eritrean conflict. Sources at the US embassy said that Leak's visit to Addis Ababa has achieved progress in the context of calming down the escalated conditions between the two countries.

The sources expected Leak's visit to last for two days, during which he will meet with Afworki and senior officials.
