Money transfers between Sweden and Morocco go electronic
Morocco announced that money transfers between Sweden and Morocco will be operated electronically through the Eurogiro Network.
Secretary of state in charge of posts and new information technologies, Larbi Ajjoul, told the House of Representatives (lower house) that Morocco and Sweden agreed to sign an accord for the setting up of the system.
Morocco is among the subscribers to Eurogiro, along with 24 European countries, the USA, Canada and Japan.
Sweden decided recently to ban issuing money orders destined for Morocco in view of increasing complaints about lost orders.
The Swedish postal authorities advised the concerned persons to send their money through banking channels.
Some 7,000 Moroccan nationals are settled in Sweden. No Moroccan bank has a branch in Sweden, and the Moroccan carrier Royal Air Maroc services no direct flights to Sweden either.
