Chinese president praises Syria's achievements

Chinese President Jiang Zemen on Thursday in Beijing received Syrian vice President Zuheir Masharqa, currently in an official visit to China.

The Chinese President stressed that China follows up developments in the Middle east. He said that China backs the implementation of UN resolutions pertaining to the Mid-East peace. He added that China supports the idea of multi-poles in the world because China finds it very difficult for one pole to control the whole of the world (a usual reference to the dominance of the US in post cold-war).

The Chinese President expressed appreciation for the great achievements realized in Syria "under the leadership of President al-Assad." He stressed China's readiness to provide support for Syria on the basis of mutual benefits in all areas, SANA reported.
