Chairman of the Palestinian Civil Aviation Authority Fayez Zaidan has said that the first trade flight between Gaza International Airport and Amman will take off on Saturday.

He noted that, "As of Saturday morning organized trade flights will start from Gaza Airport to Amman on Saturday and Wednesday every week and air flights will begin as of next week to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, twice a week on Monday and Thursday."

The Palestinian official continued that "air flights to the Egyptian capital, Cairo, will start on December 11 every week on Sunday, Thursday and Friday." Flights to other countries will start as of next week and Palestinian pilgrims will this year fly directly from Gaza to Jeddah.

Gaza International Airport opened on November 24. It can accommodate 700,000 passengers per year.
