El-Torabi to announce resignation from Sudanese parliamentary chairmanship

Alison Megaya, the deputy chairman of the Sudanese National Council (parliament), stated that Speaker Hassan El-Torabi's will resign from the council's chairmanship to have more time for the requirements of the ruling National Conference, which will turn into a political party at the beginning of January.

Megaya said after the meeting of the council's leadership yesterday that El-Torabi will retain the council's chairmanship until the ratification of the general budget for the coming financial year on December 17.
