Consultations coming between Algerian parties and presidency on election supervision
The Algerian presidency will hold a meeting with political parties on Saturday regarding the formation of an independent supervision committee for the presidential elections.
Algerian factional sources stated yesterday that the parties will demand during these consultations that the committee's chairman must be agreed upon by the political parties and not appointed by the president as in earlier elections.
Meanwhile, Algerian political sources in Cairo said that Algerian Prime Minister Ahmed Oyehia is to present his immediate resignation on December 6 after he presents the government's annual report before parliament.
The sources said there is a directive to withdraw trust from Oyehia's government despite his intention, where there are consultations between the government and the deputies to prevent the withdrawal of trust because this will politically affect Oyehia. Previous reports mentioned that Oyehia may be interested in running for the presidential office.
