Morocco is attached to Iraq's unity and territorial integrity
The speaker of the Moroccan Chamber of Advisors (upper house) renewed on Wednesday Morocco's attachment to the unity and territorial integrity of Iraq.
"Morocco is attached to the unity and territorial integrity of Iraq," Mohamed Jalal Essaid said at a meeting with a delegation from the Iraqi National Council (Parliament), led by Hussein Gacem Nadaoui.
Jalal Essaid voiced hope to see "all the wounds of the Gulf War completely healed so that the countries of the region can play again their natural role for the achievement of Arab unity."
The Iraqi official expressed gratitude for Morocco's positions regarding Iraq and for the calls by the Moroccan Chamber of Advisors for lifting the sanctions imposed on Iraq.
The Iraqi delegation is visiting Morocco to attend an international conference on Jerusalem, due to open this Thursday in Rabat.
The three-day conference is sponsored by the Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco with the collaboration of the Arab Parliamentary Union.
