Tunisian president honors Fairouz

Tunisian President Zein al-Abidin Bin Ali on Sunday received renowned Lebanese singer Fairouz at Cartage palace.

The Tunisian president invested Fairouz with the national order of merit, excellent class in the cultural sector in appreciation for her long artistic career, her ranking position among Arab singers and the spirit of amity that ever characterized her artistic production.

The Tunisian President expressed his "esteem and appreciation for Fairouz' art and her remarkable presence as a minaret for Arab music." Fairouz expressed thanks to Tunisia's president and people over the warm welcome she received in Tunisia. The singer on Saturday night entertained an audience of 10,000 who attended her performance in "al-Karam" suburb.
