Morocco counts currently over 100,000 mobile phone subscribers against 75,000 last year, Moroccan telecom company "Ittisalat Al Maghreb" said.

The subscribers are expected to reach 114,000 by the end of the year before rising to 164,000 in 1999, the same source said, announcing a 24 percent reduction in cellular phone subscribtion fees.

Over 200 ground stations will be planted throughout Morocco --besides the 750 stations already operational-- to ensure a better communication coverage, the Moroccan company said.

Morocco, which counts over 28 Million inhabitants, has currently nearly 1.4 million phone subscribers or less than five telephone lines per 100 inhabitants.
