Mubarak meets Arafat

Egyptian President Hosni Muabark received Palestinian President Yasser Arafat yesterday to discuss the latest developments in the peace process and in the region.

Arafat stated that the Palestinians had implemented all the conditions that were asked for and that the Palestinian government was surprised by the request presented by the Israeli prime minister to delay implementing the agreement for a few days.

Arafat said that US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright phoned him and asked him to agree to this delay, yet at the time he announced his approval he said that he is afraid the delay in the agreement may last for weeks, which would be considered a new obstacle for the peace process.
