US doctors at Syrian children's hospital
The Damascus University's children hospital on Monday opened a three-day advanced pediatric life support course. Lecturing in the course is a US medical team led by Dr. Muhammad Salim al-Wattar from Los Angeles, California.
The visiting team includes Dr. Judith Brill, who is the director of the pediatric intensive care unit at the University of California Los Angeles Medical Center and a professor of Pediatrics and anesthesiology, and Dr. Carmen J. Botero, a pediatric cardiologist and intensive care specialist also from Los Angeles.
Taking part in the course are 48 pediatricians from all over Syrian provinces. Among the subjects covered for the participants were neonatal resuscitation, the recognition of respiratory failure and shock, pediatric trauma and the management of cardiac rhythm disturbances.
