Habash meets with Khaddam, denounces Wye Plantation talks
A statement released by the official spokesman for the People's Front for the Liberation of Palestine has said that Syrian Vice-President Abdul Halim Khaddam received on Thursday morning in Damascus a delegation representing the front led by the PLFP's secretary-general, George Habash.
The delegation included Abu Ahmad Fuad and Maher al-Taher, two members of the front's political bureau.
The statement, of which the London-based al-Hayat daily received a copy, said that talks during the meeting dealt with political developments on the Palestinian level and the risks the Arab nation is facing.
The statement added that Habash said that "the current negotiations in Wye Plantation aim at liquidating the cause of Palestine, violating the rights of the Palestinian people and trying to drag the Palestinians into a civil war, through pledges by the Palestinian Authority to the US and Israel to strike the Palestinian national and Islamic forces, which are determinant to continue struggle against the Israeli occupation."
The statement said that during the meeting Habash stressed support for Syria in its confrontation of dangers hatched against the Arab states.
For his part, Khaddam, the statement said, stressed "Syria's full support for the struggle mounted by the Palestinian people to restore their full national rights."
