Mubarak, Crown Prince Hassan discuss Palestinian - Israeli negotiations

Originally published

Jordanian Crown Prince Hassan Bin Talal on Thursday received a telephone call from Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak relating to Palestinian - Israeli negotiations at the Wye Plantation and inter-Arab relations.

The Jordanian official news agency, Petra, said that Mubarak and Crown Prince Hassan, who acts on behalf of King Hussein in monitoring Jordan's affairs, reviewed the latest developments in the region on all levels, especially the Palestinian-Israeli talks at the Wye Plantation near Washington, which have been underway since last Thursday.

Petra said the telephone conversation falls in the context of continued "consultations and coordination between the two countries's leadership and the stress on the need to salvage the Palestinian track from the stalemate and recession it has been witnessing during the past nine months."

Talks also dealt with "inter-Arab relations and the agreement reached between Turkey and Syria."

Crown Prince Hassan reiterated Jordan's appreciation of Egyptian diplomacy, led by President Mubarak, in defusing the crisis between the two countries.
