Yemeni Premier meets with commander of the fifth fleet

A Yemeni official source said on Thursday that Yemeni Prime Minister Abdul Karim al-Iryani held talks on Thursday with the commander of the US Fifth Fleet in the Arab Gulf region, Charles Moore, who is currently visiting Sanaa.

The Yemeni official news agency Sabaa said that "prospects for bilateral cooperation in the military area" were at the top of talks between the two sides. Al-Iryani expressed "Yemen's gratitude over the aid offered by the US to Yemen in the field of land-mine dismantling program."

The US Department of Defense has launched a land mine dismantling program in which American experts have been recruited to dismantle mines implanted during the civil war in Yemen in 1994.
